When people are nice enough to compliment me on the comic, it’s most often “I love Octopus Kid.” I do, too. And even though the comic is named for D.K., I don’t think he would be upset by seeing O.K. get all the fans. I bet he’d be real happy for his friend.
He’s a humble little eponym.
I’m trying more new stuff in the art. Multiple layers (see tree trunk), no outline (see lower background), and drawing on top of dried paint (those little grasses in the lower background). Once again, I don’t think my scan does the strip justice. Oranges always come out too red, and the edges here are kind of blurred. But I’m continually doinking around with it, so … I’ll figure it out.
With this single panel especially, the scanner gives it a very Instagram feel. (O.K.’s jeans jacket helps with the retro-hipster vibe.) While I’m sorry the scanning adds a barrier between us readers and the art as you create it, I have a feeling I’ll miss the wonky saturation and contrast when you eventually get things sorted.
You’ll miss the wonky side? That’s awesome. I hope all my other shortcomings also endear as much as they endure.
