#028
I penciled this comic last night, and inking it took all day. The last panel took an hour by itself. Actually, the characters and the bus were an hour. The world around them was another hour. Totaled up, I probably spent more than twice my usual time on this one. But I think it looks great.
See, I could’ve easily broken it into two jokes and made it two comics. I also could’ve easily drawn Panel 2, then copy-pasted it three times and changed the dialogue in each bubble. But that just looks crummy. I wouldn’t have been proud of that.
But I’m proud of this. The different angles — the hand-drawn hatching — their superslick spring jackets. If anything, that big Octopus Kid close-up is the laziest part. But I like showing, in one comic, that I can go in really close or out really far. Keeping things interesting.
I’ve always loved school. But it’s true you can learn a ton on the Internet! haha
