That’s it! This little story’s done. It was 10 or 11 strips and it took … too many months.

I’ve now been in China for one year. I’m sorry I haven’t been saying much about it on this site. I’ve been infrequently emailing photos and stories to friends and family, but even that’s a big old undertaking. I’ve posted a lot of photos to my Twitter, though, so you can check that out if you’re curious — or drop me a line and I’ll add you to the email list (jimmygrist -at- gmail.com). And my longterm plan is to document it with a longform comic when I come home. I’m making lots of notes.

The best news: after one year, I’m learning to manage my time better. I’m carving out more space for creative work, and more importantly, I’m resisting the temptation to just relax whenever I get a few free hours. Maybe best of all: my site (Peace Corps site, not website) should be getting a second volunteer this summer, and that means I’ll have somebody with whom to split the work and attention. I’m super looking forward to that. So if you’re my new sitemate and you just happen to be reading this, welcome to 兰州 and also I love you.

Here’s a watercolor painting I made for one of my students:
